Variable pitch ensures minimum drag and maximum electrical output. It also protects the generator from high speeds, so it is important to ensure that it works properly:
1. Switch the pump to manual mode if it is not (switch on the side)
2. Pump while holding the button: the pump should make pulses (more or less long depending on the software version)
3. Check if the blades of the hydrogenerator take incidence
4. If yes, release the button on the pump (keep it pressed for 30 seconds): the blades should return to their initial position, you can hear (very slight noise) the pump's solenoid valve being activated by a pulse
Possible problems :
A. The blades do not take incidence during the pressure rise:
- check that there is a functional play in the blades: by hand you should feel a small degree of freedom in rotation -> if absent, check that the screws holding the propeller blades support (see attached exploded view) are not too tight
- check that all the hydraulic connections are well connected / open between the pump and the hydrogenerator
- check that the pump is connected to the correct hydrogenerator (possible error: port pump connected to starboard hydrogenerator...)
- check the bleeding of the system and the oil level in the tank (see article filling the oil tank)
B. The release does not work:
- check the spring under the blade holder
- the solenoid valve of the pump is faulty
